Craig ran the Chicago Marathon on October 12th. He has run a marathon before, but the Chicago Marathon is a MUCH bigger race, and is one of the "big six" marathons in the world. People come from everywhere just to participate. His training was probably a little more grueling this time, since he had nobody to train with, but he was disciplined and ran long runs in the heat all summer! The day before the race we all went with him to pick up his race packet at the expo. It was weirdly exciting to be around all of the people who worked so hard to accomplish this goal.
Here he is with a display of the race course:
The day of the race I watched the marathon live on the computer until it was time to go to our mile marker and wait for him. The leading males were doing all their miles under 5 minutes. SO FAST. We watched for Craig around mile 23. We got there extra early so we wouldn't miss him. There was a steady stream of runners the whole time. I got choked up a few times watching people, especially this girl that was obviously in horrible pain. Anyway, we finally saw Craig and I almost didn't get a picture! His running form looks really weird in this picture because he had just bent down to pat Charlotte and Millie, who were sitting on a curb.

There were almost 42,000 runners in the Chicago Marathon! Craig's main complaint was that he couldn't really look around, he just had to worry about weaving in and out around people. His time was just a few minutes slower than his last marathon. He swears he will never do another one (and I believe him). He did an awesome job and it was amazing watching all of the runners!
*I purposely excluded Charlotte from this picture below because she was ON ONE.
