Thanksgiving 2013!

So these pictures aren't in perfect order, but it was taking too long to fix, so oh well!
This isn't really from Thanksgiving, but I had to include it. Our great friends, Scott and Annie (from Omaha), came up to Chicago a couple of weeks ago to go to the BYU vs Notre Dame game (Craig went with them). Friday night we went downtown to Gino's for some deep dish and then Charlotte swam in their hotel pool. Saturday they all went to the football game and froze--also, we lost, which I predicted. Sunday they came over for dinner before we had to say goodbye. It was so fun to see them! It has only been 4 months since we moved but there was a lot to catch up on.
Yes, Charlotte is grubbing on a lemon in this picture. She even ate part of the rind before I noticed and revoked it.

Monday night after Craig got through with classes we started the trek from Chicago to Virginia to see my family. We definitely started out with a bang. We were a little ways into Indiana (about an hour into our trip) and we were approaching one (of a MILLION) toll booths. The lane lines were gone so it was hard to tell if we were getting into the correct lane. We started to merge into a lane and so did a semi. Craig tried to steer out of the way but we hit a patch of ice and lost control. We spun 90 degrees (it felt like slow motion...) and watched the semi coming. It hit us with it's rear tires on my side of the car and pretty much ripped our front bumper off (and then some). He didn't stop. That was a crappy way to start the drive but after calling our insurance and the highway patrol we were on our way again since our car was working okay, even though it looked soooooo beat. Pieces were dangling off our car and people were staring at every pit stop.

It looks better in these pictures because this was after Craig and my dad had removed the pieces that weren't secure:

Anyway, before we went to my parent's house, our first stop was in Arlington to see our friend's the Youngs. We were in the same married ward at BYU so we go back to the newlywed days. We hadn't seen each other in 2.5 years but when we got together it was just like old times! It was so fun to finally meet their cute girls, Annabelle and Charlotte (yes, we both have Charlottes)! They were great hosts--fed us lunch and stocked us up with snacks. We can't wait to get together again!
I can't get this picture to rotate, but Charlotte and Annabelle became buddies quick and had fun playing and dancing together.

Aaron with the two older girls:

All the girls together!

After like 20ish hours of driving and a million dollars in tolls, (it should have only taken 12...) we FINALLY got to my parent's house! HALLELUIAH! So glad my sister moved back so we can see her and her family every time we go out there to visit my parents. Thanks to her for almost all of these pictures.
My mom did a great job planning activities that would be fun for the kiddos to do.
Cutting out sugar cookies into Christmas shapes to decorate:

This could have been a really cute picture...

Charlotte loved spending time with Sammy and Afton.

Mom brought up the small Christmas tree for the kids to decorate on their own. It was pretty bottom-heavy...

Millie LOVED Grandma and Grandpa Cheney. It was pretty nice at times that she wanted nothing to do with me so other people could take turns retrieving her from the stairs...

Oozing sass:

More cookie-cutting:

Grandpa busted out the popcorn popper and the kids LOVED it.

Their masterpiece. Sam and Afton look totally miserable.

Playing with playdough:

Best hosts:

Grandma and Grandpa have a big basement with tons of great toys. The kids spent hours down here.

Grandpa being a sport and doing Thomas the Train puzzles with the kids:

Grandma's helper:

Kristen took some cute pics of Charlotte:

Sneaking a bite of Millie's ice cream. Yes, I wore my mom's sweatshirt every second that we were in the house.

Christmas parade at a local shopping center:

Millie is going to break her back doing this one day. But for now, she thinks it's hilarious. Also, the only picture I have of Dan in this post.

Love my parents. Despite the driving mishaps, it was such a good trip! Endless food, games at night, and cousin bonding. Thanksgiving success!
